I blinked and it's November. I've got a whole month to catch up on! I hope I can remember it all, because the month of October will go down as me being in a fog of not feeling well. Since vacation, (yes! we actually went on vacation and I never even blogged about it!!) I have progressively felt worse each day. I won't dwell on me feeling bad, but I am hopeful my health is turning around for the good. It better, because it's November and that basically means the holidays are upon us and we've got things to do and places to go. But let's catch up on some of October first.
We went on vacation to the beach! Holy moly, it seems like a lifetime since we did, but going through the pictures I took is bringing it all back. We went at the very beginning of the month and it was very last minute and not without careful deliberation by Casey. Going would have meant she would give up perfect attendance and miss her school carnival. But when Tom told her the condo had a lazy river it became a no-brainer for her. Apparently personal pride has a price :)
So we decided to go, then less than 2 days before we left Tom tore a tendon in his elbow and vacation was cancelled. When the swelling went down, the pain became tolerable (he was in some serious pain) and when he went to the doctor he opted to get a cortisone shot in his elbow (ouch!) and then he felt good. So vacation was back on. What a nutty 24 hours. Especially for us, who have never been self proclaimed spontaneous people. But we packed, unpacked and packed and went to the beach. He will be having surgery next week to repair the tendon.
Our first trip to NMB, was wonderful! It was between 82 and 85 and sunny every day we were there. There isn't a lot to write because we didn't pack much more than jeans, shorts and t-shirts and didn't do much more than go to the beach. It was perfect. There were only a handful of people there that time of year and it was a very, very relaxing vacation.
Emily's favorite activity was collecting seashells!
We had homework every day on vacation. The beach was the perfect place for it!
The lazy river. Floating was more Emily's speed. Casey's abundance of energy had her playing river captain (see her standing on the center island?)
There aren't any photos from us all actually being on the beach during they day because I don't like to bring my camera when we're playing in the sand. That's why all the pics are us in sweatshirts - it's either early morning or evening. I promise you, though, most of our time was spent collecting shells, building sandcastles, or basking in the sunshine. We did do a couple of other things, like go putt-putt golfing and go the aquarium at Myrtle Beach.
There were tons of t-shirt shops, so we mixed it up a little and had a little fun one morning.
Happy Anniversary to us :)
